About Chris
Hi, I’m Chris Kelly, and I’m proud to be part of the 401(k) team at CapSouth. I joined the firm in 2025 and bring nearly three decades of experience managing and advising employer sponsored retirement plans. What I enjoy most about this work is seeing how the right plan, and the right guidance, can make a real difference in someone’s life.
I grew up in a small town north of Chicago and earned my B.S. in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Later, I completed my MBA in Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to live and work in many different places: Athens, GA; Madison, WI; Dallas, TX; Ithaca, NY; and most recently the Raleigh, NC area. Each stop has shaped how I approach my work and strengthened my ability to serve clients from a wide range of backgrounds and industries.
I’m committed to continuous learning and professional growth, and I’ve earned several industry credentials, including the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA), and Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designations. These designations, combined with a breadth of experience, allow me to provide practical, real-world insight to plan sponsors and the employees who rely on these plans to help build long-term financial security.
Outside of work, my wife Erica and I love traveling and spending time outdoors, especially hiking. Some of our favorite trips have been to Acadia, Utah’s Mighty Five, the Samaria Gorge, the Scottish Highlands, and Switzerland. We have two kids in college, two golden retrievers and a beagle. We cherish spending time with them and our extended family.
Whether I’m partnering with a plan sponsor to improve benefits or working directly with participants, my goal is always the same: to help people make informed decisions and stay on track toward their financial goals.
