What does CapSouth do?
CapSouth Wealth Management provides purpose-centered financial advice to individuals and families who want to align their money with what matters most to them. Our services are designed to support a wide range of needs. Depending on your situation, we may provide:
- Investment Management for clients seeking professional portfolio oversight, including diversification, monitoring, and alignment with long-term objectives.
- Financial Planning to support decisions around saving, spending, taxes, retirement, and other evolving priorities.
- Wealth Management, a more comprehensive service that integrates ongoing planning with investment management—often used by clients with greater complexity or coordination needs.
Whether you're building wealth, preparing for retirement, or managing a transition, we aim to provide thoughtful guidance tailored to your phase of life.
-
What is Wealth Management, and how is it different from Financial Planning?
Wealth Management typically involves both financial planning and investment management. It may include tax planning strategies, estate and legacy conversations, charitable giving, and collaboration with other professionals such as CPAs or attorneys.
Financial Planning can be more focused—helping address immediate goals like saving, budgeting, retirement planning, or education funding. There’s often overlap between the two, and we’ll help you explore which level of support feels most appropriate for your needs and priorities.
-
Do I have to move all of my investments to work with you?
No. We offer planning-only engagements as well as integrated planning relationships. Some clients begin with a standalone plan, while others combine investment management and planning from the start. There’s flexibility based on your comfort level, goals, and the kind of relationship you're looking for—including standalone planning as well as integrated planning relationships.
-
Who do you typically work with?
We work with individuals and families who are navigating financial complexity or want help making more intentional decisions. While many of our clients have between $1 million and $10 million in investable assets, we also serve people who are earlier in their wealth-building journey but value structured guidance.
Some examples of clients we commonly serve include:
High-income earners balancing competing financial goals
Individuals preparing for or transitioning into retirement
People navigating major life events such as inheritance or the loss of a loved one
Early-career professionals who are ready to build a long-term financial strategy -
What makes CapSouth different from other companies?
We focus on building a relationship—not just a portfolio. While technical expertise is important, we believe financial advice has the greatest impact when it’s rooted in empathy, trust, and a clear understanding of what’s important to you. Our process is structured but personal, helping you feel supported—not sold to.
-
What can I expect if I become a client?
We begin with a discovery process to understand your values, goals, and financial picture. Based on what we learn, we’ll recommend a service model that may include investment management, financial planning, or full Wealth Management.
Every client starts with a structured onboarding experience that lays the foundation for a strong relationship. From there, our Annual Services Guide outlines the key planning activities you can expect throughout the year—based on your life phase and service level. This approach helps provide consistency, clarity, and proactive support.
-
How do your fees work?
Our fees reflect the level of service provided and the complexity of your financial situation. We offer:
- Asset-based fees for clients receiving investment management
- Flat annual fees for planning-only relationships
- Combination models when needed based on client preferences or circumstances
- We’ll walk through your options during the discovery process so you can make a decision that feels clear and well-aligned.
You can also watch our Fee Transparency Video or visit the Services page for more details.
-

- Healthcare and Medicare
- Equity compensation
- Charitable giving
- Estate and legacy planning

-
Do you only work with clients in Alabama?
No. While our company was founded in Alabama, we currently serve clients in over 18 states. In addition to our main office in Alabama, we have locations in:
- McDonough, GA
- Midtown Atlanta, GA
- Huntersville, NC (a suburb of Charlotte)
Many of our client relationships are fully remote, supported by Zoom and secure client portals. Whether we meet in person or virtually, we strive to offer a consistent, thoughtful experience that fits your preferences and schedule.
-
What if I already have a financial advisor?
That’s completely okay. Some people reach out for a second opinion. Others are exploring a new type of relationship—one that feels more collaborative or tailored to their current phase of life. We’re always happy to have an introductory conversation to help you determine if CapSouth may be a good fit for your needs.
-
Is there a minimum investment required to work with you?
There is no minimum investment, but we do have a minimum annual fee of $2000. Many of our clients have $1–$10 million in investable assets, though others are earlier in their journey and looking for proactive, long-term guidance. If your financial picture is becoming more complex—or you want to be more intentional about planning—we’re happy to explore whether we’re a good match.
-
How do I get started?
We usually begin with a brief introductory call. It’s an opportunity to learn more about you, answer your questions, and explore whether there’s alignment. If we decide to move forward together, we’ll guide you through what comes next.
